Behavioral Health Diagnoses Among Insured Children and Youth

This chart displays the percentage of insured residents (birth to age 21) with a diagnosed behavioral health condition within the 14-county Finger Lakes region from 2016 to 2024. Of note, this dataset does not include all insurance providers. Understanding that some counties may have greater market share than others of the providers included, the data may be more representative of some individual counties than others. At a regional level, the data provide valuable information regarding the rise in behavioral health diagnoses amongst all youth age groups over the time period shown. Regardless of whether this is related to improvements in screening and detection or an actual increase in prevalence, the need for behavioral health professionals and services is on the rise.
