Student Proficiency: 3rd Grade English Language Arts (ELA) by Race/Ethnicity
New York Finger Lakes Region
The data below are based on New York State standardized assessment scores. Proficiency rates are based on the percentage of third-grade students who scored at levels 3 or 4 on English Language Arts (ELA) and math assessments conducted within the Finger Lakes region.
There are large disparities in proficiency rates by race and ethnicity. Proficiency rates of White students are much higher than Black and Latino students. This pattern is consistent with, although more pronounced than, the high school graduation rate data in the region.
