At this year’s Healthi Kids Coalition December meeting, we honored three incredible coalition members who go above and beyond to make our community feel supported, healthier and more playful.
Curtis Birthwright: The Good Energy Award
Curtis has been bringing positive energy to our work since 2019. From supporting wellness initiatives at School 16 to volunteering at Infant Toddler Play Days, Curtis shows up with a smile and a commitment to families. He engages kids and caregivers with joy, builds connections, and even finds new ways to serve—like his new “adopt a senior” project that pairs kids with seniors for weekly visits. Curtis truly embodies what it means to bring good energy to every space.
Tonia Burton: The Powerful Partner Award
Tonia is the definition of a coalition partner who activates her network to make change happen. From hosting Pop-Up Play Days and supporting the Play Walk to championing funding for Infant Toddler Play Kits, Tonia consistently finds creative ways to amplify our work through the library system. Whether it’s big projects or small gestures, we can always count on Tonia to take initiative and make an impact.
Sharon Peck: Making a Splash for Play Award
When it comes to play, Sharon Peck is a true leader and advocate. Over the past year, she’s stepped up in countless ways—presenting at a national conference, helping plan the Playful Learning Summit, and even preparing her son to speak on the youth panel. Sharon combines expertise, creativity, and a playful spirit to keep our work moving forward. She’s always ready to champion play, and we’re thrilled to celebrate her contributions.
Congratulations to Curtis, Tonia, and Sharon! Your passion and dedication inspire us all.
