For the second consecutive year, Common Ground Health has been certified as a great workplace by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work®. Common Ground Health earned this credential based on extensive ratings provided by its employees in an anonymous survey.
“We are honored that Common Ground Health has again been certified as a Great Place to Work,” said Trilby de Jung, CEO of Common Ground Health. “We acted on many staff suggestions over the past year and rolled out work policies that improve flexibility. It is deeply gratifying to see our growing employee satisfaction.”
Great Place to Work® certifies organizations in which more than 70 percent of employees trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do, feel respected by management, believe that management is fair and experience camaraderie with their colleagues.
According to the survey, 81 percent of Common Ground Health employees said the nonprofit provides a great workplace, up 10 percentage points from last year.
In the anonymous survey:
- 100 percent of Common Ground Health employees say they are able to take time off from work when they think it’s necessary
- 99 percent of employees said they feel a sense of pride when reviewing their accomplishments
- 95 percent of employees said they feel good about the ways they contribute to the community
Human Resources Manager Krista Berry said employee input in the 2016 Great Place to Work survey led to improvements in office space and the addition of flexibility in the organization’s benefits plan. She noted that changes such as these support Common Ground’s mission of health improvement.
“People have said they feel greater autonomy and are more relaxed and empowered, which reinforces our broader efforts in the region to nurture health of the whole self,” Berry said.
The certification places Common Ground within the ranks of Great Place to Work-certified businesses that locally include Wegmans Food Markets, Dixon Schwabl and ESL Federal Credit Union and nationally include Google and Salesforce.
"We applaud Common Ground Health for seeking certification and releasing its employees' feedback," said Kim Peters, executive vice president of Great Place to Work's Certification Program. "These ratings measure its capacity to earn its own employees' trust and create a great workplace - critical metrics that anyone considering working for or doing business with Common Ground Health should take into account as an indicator of high performance."
