A top nursing professor and researcher who has studied ways to reduce readmissions using discharge planning and technology is among a panel speaking at the Cracking the Code on Healthcare Spotlight Event from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 2 at Locust Hill Country Club, 2000 Jefferson Road, Pittsford.
The event will feature nursing professor Kathryn H. Bowles, Ph.D., of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, who will speak on reducing readmissions with evidenced-based discharge planning. A registered nurse, Bowles is also the vice president and director of the Center for Home Care Policy and Research, Visiting Nurse Service of New York.
Bowles is a researcher in nursing and telemedicine, and leads a program of research in the use of information technology to improve health care for elders and support health care provider’s decision-making regarding hospital discharge referrals for elders.
The event will also feature senior consultants Gus Bentivegna, Lisa Perlmutter and Lindsay Wiggins of Willis Towers Watson, a risk management and talent cultivation firm. They will speak on the topic of “Attracting, Engaging and Inspiring a Well-trained Workforce to Care for Our Aging Community.” The interactive, research-based presentation will focus on challenges facing today’s providers.
A panel discussion follows, facilitated by Nancy M. Tinsley, president of Rochester General Hospital. The panel will feature Bowles; Ann Marie Cook, president and CEO of Lifespan of Greater Rochester; Michael McRae, president and CEO of St. Ann’s Community; Deborah Stamps, system vice president of quality, safety and innovation for Rochester Regional Health; and Elizabeth Zicari, president of HCR Homecare.
