During the Sept. 18 Hair and Health Symposium, barbers and stylists who serve as community health educators shared how they provide blood pressure, HIV and Hepatitis C screenings. Dematologist Dr. Nana Duffy and Trichologist Assunta Conyers presented information about hair and scalp health and hair loss. The barbers and stylists also cut and styled hair on models for a hair show.
The symposium provided an opportunity to learn about how your health can affect your hair and the role barbers and stylists play in promoting health. It took place at the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center and was sponsored by Trillium Health, MVP Health Care, Rochester Educational Opportunity Center and the High Blood Pressure Collaborative, a partnership of Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and Common Ground Health.
