On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, schools within the Rochester City School District (RCSD) will celebrate Level Up Read & Play Day—a day dedicated to the joy of reading and the power of play! This special event combines two global celebrations—World Read Aloud Day and Global School Play Day—and Healthi Kids is excited to partner with RCSD Literary Task Force to make it unforgettable.

Reading and play help kids learn, grow, and thrive. When children play, they imagine, create, and solve problems. When they hear stories read aloud, they build language skills and discover new worlds. Together, reading and play spark curiosity and make learning fun.

On February 4, schools will set aside time for activities like:

  • Read-aloud sessions and storytelling with teachers, parents, and community members.
  • Play-based literacy zones where kids act out stories, build scenes, and create art inspired by books.
  • Extra recess and movement activities that encourage imagination and teamwork.

Healthi Kids is proud to support this day by providing resources, activity ideas, and funding for supplies. We can’t wait to see how schools bring reading and play together in creative ways!
