As a community wellness project coordinator, Patricia Cathey supports high blood pressure initiatives in faith-based settings, barbershops and beauty salons, and other community settings. Prior to joining Common Ground Health’s staff in 2017, she served as a consultant to the High Blood Pressure Collaborative.
Cathey is a human services professional with an extensive background in providing leadership, interpersonal skills, facilitating meetings, youth advocacy, mentorship and community outreach. Her previous experience includes working as a collaborative support specialist at Villa of Hope, where she networked with community outreach services and provided career development opportunities and training. As a case manager at Villa of Hope, Cathey managed residents’ needs and collaborated with Monroe County caseworkers.
Cathey also supervised adolescent children as a child care worker at Monroe County Children’s Center and provided a caring, structured and therapeutic environment for youth and staff as a youth care specialist and supervisor at Hillside Family of Agencies.
Cathey earned a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Fredonia. In her spare time, she is involved in mentoring and ministering to youth, women and families. A theater actress and vocalist, Cathey has sung gospel solos since she was 3 years old. She also has been active in churches as an usher, choir director, president and more.
