Communications Specialist
Stephanie Bowen creates communications that reflect and support the organization’s brand and population health initiatives. Her responsibilities include developing newsletters, email announcements, social media content, publications and multimedia projects.
A strategic-communications professional with demonstrated success working across platforms and teams to advance innovative organizations, Bowen brings to the organization more than 20 years of experience as an editor, writer and broadcast producer. Most recently, she served as editor of the “Wilson Quarterly,” a journal offering on-the-ground reporting and thought-provoking perspectives through curated essays and multimedia pieces.
Previous roles include serving as director of strategic communications at White Ribbon Alliance, a citizen-led, global alliance advocating for maternal and newborn health and rights, and as director of communications and marketing at KABOOM!, a national nonprofit focused on play and community engagement. Bowen also served as an assignment editor and producer at CNN, among other news and public affairs positions.
Stephanie Bowen earned a master’s degree in professional writing: creative non-fiction and fiction from University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, TV/radio news and political science from San Diego State University.
She is an avid reader, enjoys sailing and other outdoor activities with her husband, Marc, and their dog, Maya, and loves to connect with friends and family.
