As part of the Healthi Kids team, Stephanie David provides expertise and guidance on policy-change opportunities for advancing whole child health in our region.
David joined Common Ground Health in 2018 and has a deep understanding of the Healthi Kids work, having served on the coalition’s policy team since 2014. She brings to the position more than a decade of experience in health policy and public health law, and she has worked on a variety of issues affecting children’s health including food insecurity, obesity and autism-spectrum disorders.
Prior to joining the organization, David was a health policy coordinator at the Center for Community Health and Prevention at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she coordinated implementation of the Monroe County Community Health Improvement Plan for the county’s four hospitals and the Monroe County Department of Public Health.
From 2010-2015, David was a faculty member with George Washington University’s Department of Health Policy and Management in Washington, D.C. She served as an integral part of the STOP Obesity consortium and was involved in several projects focused on children’s health-policy issues. She continues to teach online courses on public health law and medical ethics for GW’s Master of Public Health program.
A Batavia, N.Y. native, Stephanie David earned her juris doctorate degree from the Washington and Lee School of Law, her master’s degree in public health from George Washington University, and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Cornell University. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the New York State Association for Infant Mental Health. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys playing violin and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
