City of Rochester vs. Suburbs

Life expectancy in the City of Rochester is significantly lower than in the nearby suburbs. Looking at the trend, there has been a much bigger drop in life expectancy for city residents than their suburban neighbors, with city residents losing almost 4 years of life expectancy from 2013 to 2020 vs. only 2 yrs for suburban residents. The premature mortality rates for most leading causes of death is much higher in the city. For example, the premature mortality rate from drug overdoses in the city is triple the rate in the suburbs, and for cancer the city rate is double.
