Generations of women of color to be highlightedWomen and girls of color are invited to the annual A Call to Women of Color, which focuses on empowering women and girls of color to engage in conversation and promote healthy living among women. This event is planned for women of color by women of color. Admission is free to the event, which takes place from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Roundhouse Pavilion, Genesee Valley Park, Rochester. This year’s event will present the stories of women and girls of color in “A Tapestry of Generations: Incredible Women, Incredible Vision, Incredible Sisterhood.” Sign up now. Partner spotlight: Finger Lakes Performing Provider SystemCongratulations to the Finger Lakes Performing Provider System (FLPPS) Workforce Investment Organization, which will manage the Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program in the Finger Lakes, Western NY, and Southern Tier regions for the New York Health Equity Reform 1115 Waiver. The CPT Program will fund training and education that focuses on career advancement and unemployed individuals to create a workforce pipeline addressing healthcare workforce shortages. “FLPPS has the experience to expand training opportunities and support those entering the health care field, helping our region keep up with evolving needs,” said Wade Norwood, CEO of Common Ground Health. This sold-out, day-long conference emphasized the power of play and creativity inside and outside the classroom to spur physical activity, social-emotional growth, mental wellness, academic achievement and more. “Play is the best way for kids to learn because it fully engages them,” said Dina Faticone, chief program officer of Common Ground Health. “Play is also key to social-emotional development. We know that kids need supportive opportunities to build relationships, including peer relationships and relationships with trusted adults.
