The month was named after her. Learn more about her story in our Mental Health Moment, a new video series featuring Melanie Funchess, director of Mental Health and Wellness. Short videos on mental health topics will premiere on Common Ground’s social media channels on Wednesdays. New insights added to Common Ground's siteDo you need data on caregiving? How about on drivers of premature mortality? Common Ground Health has been working on a multi-year project to update its data insights library with new insights using recently-acquired data. Topics that were updated recently include social determinants of health, older adults, life expectancy and premature mortality. New insights will continue to be uploaded over the next few months. These data visualizations are available for download at no cost and are free of any copyright restrictions. They are available for such uses as in papers, presentations or grant proposals. Partner spotlight: Pivital Public Health PartnershipPivital Public Health Partnership has found a significant rise in food insecurity in its 2024 Healthy Eating and Food Security Survey conducted across Chemung, Livingston, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. Food insecurity now affects 67% of respondent households, even as more people reporting eating more fruits and vegetables. “Pivital is right in focusing on food access as a key determinant of health for residents throughout our region,” said Wade Norwood, CEO of Common Ground Health. “We urge everyone to read their report and reflect on how we can ensure food access.” View it here. Dr. Nazar, Dr. Harbin honored by medical societyCongratulations to former Common Ground Health board chairs Michael Nazar, MD, and Janice Harbin, DDS, for receiving 2024 Edward Mott Moore Physician and Layperson Awards, respectively, from the Monroe County Medical Society. The awards honor individuals whose dedication to the community goes above and beyond the usual call of duty. Dr. Nazar is a retired family medicine physician and physician executive who served in various roles at Rochester Regional Health.
