Donations sought for older adults in nursing homes

The Senior Adult Community Engagement Project (SACE) at Common Ground Health is helping combat social isolation and loneliness among older adults and letting them know that they are not forgotten.

For two years, SACE senior volunteers have assembled and delivered “Not Forgotten” bags to nursing-home residents in our community’s most under-resourced areas. These bags include new items that seniors living on Medicaid allowances need and often do not have money to purchase.

This year, the project is seeking donations of new items to distribute during the holidays. Learn more.

Community Health Ambassadors recognized for outstanding community support 

Congratulations to our community health ambassadors for being recognized by Rochester Hope. The ambassadors work to represent Common Ground in the community at health fairs, education sessions and other outreach. On Nov. 3, the ambassadors were presented a certificate of appreciation for their community support, which included staffing monthly health fairs at St. Michael’s Church during their monthly health festivals over the last two years.

The certificate was presented “in recognition of outstanding community support for bringing caring hands to our neighbors most in need.”

Common Ground launches play opportunities survey

Attention Monroe County adults! Healthi Kids and the Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities invite you to participate in a brief play survey. If you live in Monroe County and care about healthier kids and opportunities for play, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for people who care about, and want to improve, opportunities for play in Monroe County. The survey is in English and Spanish. Share your thoughts today.

Wade Norwood to receive RBJ Icon Honors award

Please join us in congratulating CEO Wade Norwood on being honored with the Rochester Business Journal’s Icon Honors award. He is being recognized for his notable success and for demonstrating strong leadership both within and outside the healthcare field in the Greater Rochester Area. Native Made Market - Indigenous artists, entrepreneurs, educators, speakers and supporters will take part in the Native Made Market from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 at High Falls, 60 Brown's Race, Rochester. 

Partner spotlight: Rochester Pharmacy Access Coalition

In the wake of closures of local pharmacies, area health care providers have teamed up to offer pharmacy services to the general public, ensuring access to needed medications.

Jordan Health, Rochester Regional Health, Trillium Health, and the University of Rochester Medical Center are offering walk-in services in Rochester and delivery services throughout Monroe County.

“Time and again our local health care providers have worked together to meet the community’s needs, ensuring residents don’t experience a gap in care,” said Wade Norwood, CEO of Common Ground Health. “They set a cooperative example for us all.”
