Professionals' Summit on Elder Abuse to be held on September 8th

On September 8, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Steuben County Office for the Aging will host a collaborative event for human services professionals to create a comprehensive path for recognizing and referring elder abuse cases.

Participants can expect brief presentations to help understand their role in addressing elder abuse, roundtable discussions, and to help create a tool kit for handling elder abuse cases.

This workshop is appropriate for any professional working with the public including nonprofit program coordinators, social workers and case workers, law enforcement, and ombudsmen.

NYSDOH webinar covers home care worker minimum wage increase

On September 12 at 1:00 - 2:00 PM, New York State Department of Health is hosting an informational webinar on the home care worker minimum wage increase set to take effect October 1, 2022.

Mother Cabrini Health Foundation to host workforce development webinar

Mother Cabrini Health Foundation will host an interactive virtual event to discuss workforce development as a social determinant of health.

Upcoming Chamber training seminars available for supervision and leadership

In September, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is offering two training seminars focused supervision and leadership, two areas of need identified in our Health Workforce Survey:

Successful Supervision will focus on role clarity, goal achievement, decision-making skills, delegation and communication for supervisors. The seminar is held virtually on September 13, 15, 20, 22, and 27 from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM.

Leadership for Managers presents practical concepts, strategies, and skills needed to enhance a leader's performance, including creating an environment of trust, integrating generational differences, improving interpersonal skills and building emotional intelligence. Virtual sessions will be held on September 23, 30, October 7, 14, and 21 from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM. 

 

Chamber webinar focuses on workplace wellbeing and inclusion

Through its Colors of Success series, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is hosting "Workplace Wellbeing and Inclusion." The session will cover ways to support employee wellbeing through:

  • Employee engagement recognizing inclusion and workforce diversity,
  • Wellness strategies and programs, and
  • Communication channels.

This virtual event will be held on September 22, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. It is free for Chamber members and $25 for nonmembers.

WXXI's Connections features discussion on the nursing shortage

The national nursing shortage was featured on the August 25th episode of Connections. Representatives from SUNY Brockport and Strong Memorial Hospital shared their thoughts on the state of the nursing profession and how it impacts patient care.

Chamber training seminar addresses fundamentals of diversity

Led by Fernán Ricardo Cepero, PHR, SHRM-CP, this training series will foster an understanding of the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and establish a foundation on which to build your diversity initiative. 

Sessions will be held virtually on October 12, 19, and 26 from 8:00 - 9:30 AM.

St. John Fisher to host Diversity in the Workplace Conference

On October 12, St. John Fisher University will host an in-person conference to promote best practices, engage in cross-industry discussions, and preview DEI and workforce related research in order to impact our community. Separate tracks are available for education, health & human services/non-profit, and corporate sectors.
