September 2020Webinar planned on telemedicine and primary care pharmacotherapy for opioid use disorder In rural communities where pharmacotherapy may not be available in primary care practices (PCPs), telemedicine-based treatment with urban providers can serve as a crucial 2-3 year bridge, allowing PCPs to become trained in pharmacotherapy and integrate care management into their practices. A bridge program also supports patients in sustaining their recovery and supports substance use disorder treatment programs in maintaining access to treatment for new patients. Hosted by the URMC Recovery Center of Excellence, the Bridging the Gap: Telemedicine as a Path to Primary care Pharmacotheraphy for Opioid Use Disorder webinar will be held September 25 at 11 AM. Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center will have conference on innovations in age friendly care The Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center's 34th Annual Conference Spanning the Continuum of Care, Innovations in the Practice of Age Friendly Care, will be held online via Zoom on Friday, September 25th from 9:00 AM - 3:45 PM. Lifespan and St. John Fisher collaborate to offer gerontology certificate program The Lifespan/St. John Fisher Gerontology Certificate program is now open and fully online. Participants can take individual courses or complete the entire program to earn their certificate. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 3-6 PM. Continuing education credits are available. FLPPS and Eleversity schedule 2020 live webinar series FLPPS has partnered with Eleversity to host multiple live webinars focused on increasing the skills and knowledge-base of the health and human services workforce, with particular focus on COVID-19 shifting requirements for non-profit organizations. Each webinar will be provided multiple times and registration is available through the FLPPS Learning Management System. Health Literacy training for providers is about to undergo a transformation! Virtual Reality Technology has been proven to increase learning effectiveness, particularly in more challenging topics, like health literacy.
