Health CareWorkforce UpdatesOctober 2021October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month "America's Recovery: Powered by Inclusion" is the theme for this year's National Disability Employment Awareness Month, reflecting that while businesses struggle to fill vacancies, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities remains high. Eleversity is offering the Right Talent, Right Now Symposium to discuss how embracing diversity and inclusion in your workforce can improve business outcomes. The symposium is comprised of two sessions:
SHRM and HRCI recertification credits are available for human resource professionals. Mental health across the lifespan webinarGenesee Valley Nurses Association is hosting a webinar entitled "Mental Health Across the Lifespan: A (Post) COVID Perspective" on October 7, 7-8:30 PM. Led by Dr. James Wallace and Ann Marie Cook, this webinar will cover COVID's effect on children and families and the geriatric population. It will also include a legislative perspective from Assemblywoman Jen Lunsford. 1.5 contact hours are available for nurses participating in this event. Labor and employment law seminar scheduled Phillips Lytle attorneys are offering a complimentary seminar to address legal issues facing employers this fall. The seminar will be held October 14, 8:30-11:30 AM at the Genesee Valley Club, and will cover issues such as:
Event attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have received a negative COVID-19 test within the 72 hours prior to attending in-person events. Proof of vaccine or test results will be requested upon admittance. This program has been submitted for pre-approval of approximately 2.5 credit hours with the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). Call for input: mental health support for the health care workforce Mental Health America recently shared results from a national survey of health care workers that identified high levels of stress, anxiety, exhaustion and burnout throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Chamber offers successful supervision training The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is offering its 5-session virtual training on successful supervision. Topics covered in this training include:
Course sessions will be held 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM on October 26, 28, November 3, 9 and 16. The session costs $695 for Greater Rochester Chamber members, or $895 for non-members.
