National Health Service Corps accepting Scholarship Program applications The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program is accepting applications until April 25, 2024. Eligible students must be pursuing primary care training leading to a degree in medicine, dentistry, or a postgraduate degree or postgraduate certificate from a school or program in nurse midwifery education, physician assistant education, or nurse practitioner education. In exchange for scholarship support, participants must serve a minimum two years of service at a National Health Service Corps-approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area. Call for Presenters for NYSARH Rural Health Symposium is open The New York State Association for Rural Health is accepting proposals for presentations for the 2024 Rural Health Symposium, to be held on Thursday and Friday, September 18-19 at the Holiday Inn, Binghamton. The symposium strives to provide practical and meaningful information on current trends that influence the ability of communities to provide and/or access quality and affordable health care for rural New Yorkers. Presentations should specifically address rural circumstances on the following themes selected by the planning team: aging, climate change, cultural competency, developing future leaders, rural health careers, social care networks, and substance use. Alzheimer's Association accepting grant applications to enhance respite care The Alzheimer’s Association is accepting applications for the Center for Dementia Respite Innovation (CDRI) Grant. The CDRI is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to making respite service providers (adult day centers, in-home services, innovative models) more dementia-capable and provide the best person-centered care possible. Beginning in June 2024, the CDRI will provide a maximum of 20 grants totaling $4 million annually for the next five years to respite providers. Providers can learn more and apply at alz.org/CDRI. Applications are due on May 1. Chamber offers Athena Leadership Training The Greater Rochester Chamber is offering Athena Leadership Training programs. With separate classes for both men and women, this 10-month virtual ATHENA leadership training course is designed to ignite leaders through inspirational training programs that meet individuals where they are in their leadership journey and usher them into a new paradigm of self-discovery. SUNY Corning offers team productivity training On Tuesday, April 9 at 9 a.m. - noon, SUNY Corning Community College is offering Best Practices for Team Productivity. Workshop participants will explore their approach to teamwork and how to shape new behaviors. Participants will complete a free DiSC assessment prior to the training and use these results to understand how to improve as a teammate. Through knowledge-sharing about the roles of Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability and Result in improving team productivity, participants will engage in active learning throughout this session. This training costs $175.00 and will be held at Corning Community College Airport Corporate Park Campus. RRH & URMC collaborate for Black maternal health event Collaborative Efforts to Improve Black Maternal Health will be held on April 11 at 7:30 a.m. - noon at Riedman Training Center and online. Keynote speaker, Jennie Joseph, will deliver "Operationalizing Perinatal Equity, Quality and Safety in Materno-Toxic Zones - Every Person, Every Time." This hybrid event is for doulas, midwives, obstetricians, gynecologists, and community members working to improve maternal health. ROCTalent Summit to be held April 16 The Rochester Chapter of the Association for Talent Development will host its ROCTalent Summit on April 16 at 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hilton Inn in Rochester. Topics include: virtual connection skills and strategies, AI and technology, leadership, DEI strategies & wellbeing. ChangeLab Solutions webinar focuses on policy approaches to support mental health workforce This webinar will cover challenges that master’s-level providers experience in entering and remaining in the behavioral health care field. Panelists will explore key policy levers that can be used to support and expand the workforce — for example, provider credentialing processes, licensing boards, license portability processes, workforce expansion incentives, network adequacy requirements, and postgraduate training. The speakers will also offer insight into health care models, such as value-based care, that can effectively integrate behavioral health in health care settings. Thompson Health announces FLCC nursing scholarships UR Medicine Thompson Health is offering a new scholarship for second-year nursing students at FLCC. Students must complete an application and an interview with Thompson's nursing leadership. Scholarship recipients must agree to work for the health system for two years after graduation. NYSDOL offers Educator Career Development Ambassador Program To support the design and implementation of career-readiness curricula statewide, the New York State Department of Labor in partnership with the New York State Education Department launched the first New York State Department of Labor Educator Career Development Ambassador Program, a four-week paid summer training for teachers, librarians, and counselors in Grades 6 to 12 to develop, implement, and deliver 21st century career-readiness curricula or strategies to New York’s students. Workplace wellness toolkit available The National Association of Community Health Centers has a Workforce Wellness Toolkit that draws on principles of trauma-informed care & offers specific clinic practices that support workers to better regulate their nervous systems and resist the real threats of moral injury and burnout. The toolkit offers sample workflow changes, emails, meeting agendas, and brief individual and team exercises that health centers can download, customize, and integrate into day-to-day clinic life.
