Health Care Workforce Consortium Webinar – 10 a.m. to noon June 26
Common Ground Health and the Finger Lakes Performing Provider System will host a Workforce Consortium Webinar. This session will feature a discussion on primary care data sharing across the Finger Lakes region, updates from the NYS DOH Office of Healthcare Innovation on the June Nursing Summit, and legislative insights from the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy. Financial Health for Nonprofit Staff Workshop, from 1 to 3 p.m. July 9
The Center for Nonprofit Leadership at St. John Fisher University will conduct this in-person workshop focused on empowering nonprofit employees with the financial literacy skills needed to improve personal wellbeing and enhance professional performance. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 28 and July 29
ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. While widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop — ASIST can be learned and used by anyone. Wayne Behavioral Health Network will conduct this two-day, in-person training. Fifteen Continuing Education credit hours are available for LMSW, LCSW, and LMHC licenses upon completion. Register.

 

Shared Learning Groups on Sparking Systems Change and the Importance of Partnerships – July 22 and July 23
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), brain injuries, and other disabilities, and co-occurring mental health conditions need support for their whole well-being. These four sessions will focus on how we can partner with others to influence these systems as a community of people with lived experience, families, professionals, and systems advocates:

  • Direct support professionals — July 22, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Clinical professionals — July 22, 3 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Families of people with lived experience — July 23, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
  • People with lived experience — July 23, 3 to-4:30 p.m.

Providing Age-Friendly Care to Older Adults Course – online
This free IHI Open School course, PFC 203: Providing Age-Friendly Care to Older Adults, provides an understanding of the Age-Friendly Health Systems movement, actionable steps to get started, and how to improve the care of older adults in your setting. An informational call will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. June 25. Register for the call.

 

Training planned on better serving Deaf/ASL communities
Join the Deaf Senior Services Coalition virtually on from 12 to 1:15 p.m. July 30 to learn how to better serve Deaf/ASL communities and earn a free 2-hour completion certificate. This session is a highly recommended for those committed to inclusive, compassionate care. Register here.

New York State Healthcare Workers for Our Future Scholarship Program
This program provides a two-year scholarship to approximately 500 New York State students seeking to earn their associate or bachelor's degree as a registered nurse, respiratory therapist, clinical laboratory technologist, radiologic technologist, or surgical technologist. Selected recipients will receive a scholarship for up to two years of full-time study at any SUNY, CUNY, or New York State accredited college in an approved associate or bachelor's degree program, which includes tuition, non-tuition costs, and living costs. Recipients must agree to work in an underserved area in New York State for two years upon graduation. Learn more.

Accelerating the Pace of Elder Justice Policy to Meet the Needs of a Growing Aging Population. This abstract of an article published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGS) highlights how current policies addressing elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation have lagged behind the rapidly growing needs of older adults.

Improving Workforce Well-Being. This summary of an article in Healthcare Executive outlines five guiding principles developed through a multiyear initiative aimed at reducing burnout, improving mental health, and supporting the overall well-being of the healthcare workforce.
