Health CareWorkforce UpdatesJanuary 2022Report available: Addressing the Crisis in the Long-term Care Workforce State Senators Rachel May, Gustavo Rivera and Jessica Ramos released a report of findings of the Senate Committees on Aging, Health, and Labor. Based on testimony from stakeholders affected by the long-term care workforce shortage received in July 2021, the report provides analysis of inadequacies of the current system and offers recommendations to the state to improve the long-term care system, enable people to live independently, reduce health care costs, and provide a living wage to the long-term care workforce. Multi-county survey assesses workplace well-being Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, RochesterWorks!, DePaul and other partners across New York are seeking insights and opinions about workplace well-being, including mental, physical, and financial health. This survey is best answered by organizations' senior executives. Survey results will be shared through Chambers of Commerce and public health agencies throughout the New York area. Report on nonprofit workforce shortages in NY available The National Council of Nonprofits released a report focused on impacts of nonprofit workforce shortages in New York and solutions identified by frontline nonprofits. Salary competition, childcare and vaccination policies were identified as factors affecting recruitment and retention of staff. NYCON offers webinar on new employment realities On January 13 at noon, the New York Council of Nonprofits is hosting "Addressing New Employment Realities: The (Hopefully, Post-) Pandemic Workplace" to cover issues such as remote work, the NYS HERO Act, and paid sick/family leave with a focus on policy review and development considerations. This webinar is free for NYCON members and guests. Stress-free leadership training offered in Corning Triumph Leadership Group is offering a 4-day training on stress-free leadership. Topics include conflict resolution, communication skills, teamwork insights, and strategies to reduce stress. Sessions will be held on February 21, 22, March 24 and 25, 9 AM - 4 PM. MCC hiring coordinator for FLPPS workforce project MCC is accepting applications for a Program Coordinator II for the FLPPS regional workforce initiative, which aims to establish a sustainable model for long-term career pathways that expand the health care workforce pool and provide opportunities for more diverse individuals to achieve economic mobility. The coordinator will assure support services for MCC students from application to program completion, interface with organizations sponsoring students, and coordinate aspects of the partnership with the four other community colleges and other stakeholders.
